Dear Mr Vaiko,
I am one of the innumerable people, especially Tamils who have great regard and respect for you. Though I hail from Tamilnadu, its almost five decades since my father had settled in the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh and I have done my schooling and further education as well from AP which now is my home town. I am a 30 year old man with very little aspirations like that of most of the people in this country, which is purely limited to the extent of becoming a successful professional and leading a healthy and happy life. But the happenings in the island nation of Srilanka is far from disturbing. Though I have lived outside Tamilnadu I have acquired a significant knowledge about Tamil, Tamils and the Tamil society as a whole in the past 15-20 years, thanks to my father who unfortunately is no more. He had been a great admirer of you and even foresaw you as the future chief minister of Tamilnadu.
I can proudly say that I have indepth understanding of the history, polity and various other aspects of Srilanka. How come the international community which has always swung into action, be it the Palestine issue, the Algerian crisis, the East Timor issue, the Zimbabwean land crisis besides ethnic strifes in Sudan, Somalia and unrest in west Africa etc; has been remaining a mute spectator even when innocent and hapless Tamils are being 'butchered' by the government which should otherwise protect their rights and grant their rightful prerogatives without further 'dilly-dallying'. Except for you, Mr Ramadoss, Mr Nedumaran and a few other like minded people, I have never seen or heard anybody in Tamilnadu voice for the rights of Eelam Tamils while the other parties seem to only politicize the issue at the drop of the hat.
I very much acknowledge, appreciate and laud your 'never give up' attitude, sustained efforts and above all your expert brilliance on a plethora of matters across the globe. The country and we Tamils need a leader like you to provide solace and instill a sense of pride while also re-assure us of our security in the society.
As for the Eelam Tamil issue, this continues to remain a “protracted cycle of violence” with state sponsored acts of terror orchestrated to perfection by the Sinhala government over and over again. It is however unbelievable to note that a handful of sinhalese and sinhala politicians are able to make a fool of the international community time and again with their ever 'false rhetoric and promises' and hold the Tamil community (nation) to ransom. Besides, the insensitivity of the Indian govt (barring Indira Gandhi's regime) towards the suffering Tamil masses is also very shocking and at the same time beyond one’s common understanding since the nation's foreign policy seems to be completely flawed and faltered. Sinhalese are worse than Pakistanis or Bangladeshis which they have proved time and again (including the Bangladesh war, where they helped re-fuel pakistani warplanes).
Dear Sir, I am just another Iyer (brahmin) who constitutes around 3% of the entire Hindu populace and someone who is only concerned about personal growth and professional success. But the amount of untold suffering the innocent Tamils and their leaders in the emerald island are subjected to is very poignant and extremely painful. Not even a day has passed in my life without praying for their welfare, welbeing and a bright future ahead in the past 15 years.
I heartily congratulate you (well in advance) for a successful election campaign and could also foresee a "Victorious VAIKO" very soon. You undoubtedly are a visionary whose services are going "un-utilised" by the Tamil society and the Indian nation as a whole. I have heard many of your speeches which are not a mere expression of your "fire band" speech you are famous for, but acknowledges your unfathomable knowledge in a plethora of issues which only few could have mastered.
I sincerely pray for your success and for the achievement of every goal of yours and I am even sure that my father (in heaven) would also bless you with "success non-parel" (success unparalleled)
JAI HIND
Yours Sincerely,
Vikneswaran Mani, Hyderabad
